The Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and DEHUKAM Signed the Blue Economy and Marine Spatial Planning Project Protocol

The “Blue Economy and Marine Spatial Planning Project” has initiated on August 1, 2024, with the Protocol signing ceremony between the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure General Directorate of Maritime Affairs and DEHUKAM. The protocol was signed by Mr. Ünal Baylan, Director General of Maritime Affairs, and Mr. Mustafa Başkara, DEHUKAM CEO.

Under the project, studies will be carried out towards various aspects of the blue economy, including fisheries and aquaculture, marine tourism, marine resource extraction, maritime transport, marine biotechnology, shipbuilding, coastal development, and renewable ocean energy activities. These studies will aim to achieve ecological, economic, and social objectives determined through a political process, which is a public process known as marine spatial planning.

We anticipate that this signed Project protocol will make significant contributions to the planning of activities within Türkiye’s maritime jurisdiction areas.
